Please pardon our classic look. We look forward to revealing this section's new look in July.

The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program provides a multi-year, integrated approach to learning that emphasizes project-based, interdisciplinary, research-active education. It provides an opportunity to learn and practice professional skills while making real-world contributions.

Selected students (sophomores to graduate students) will work together in teams on research projects with faculty from Tandon and other schools within NYU. With an intended commitment of at least three semesters, the long-term nature of the project allows for opportunities for mentorship as well as leadership. The VIP program is part of a broad national and international consortium of universities. While Graduate students are encouraged to participate, only Undergraduate students will receive credit through VIP.

How it Works

  • Review the project teams listed on the NYU VIP website and select one to apply to. Click on the application link for the VIP team you wish to join, enter all of your information, and click submit your application.
  • It is intended that you should stay with the project for at least three semesters (unless you are beginning as senior), but you are free to continue after that, with advisor approval.
  • You must be admitted to the team by the advising faculty. If admitted, you will be given a course number and a permission number to register.
  • You may register for one credit per semester, which will count towards your degree.
